Cooperation between BADEA and the Republic of The Gambia

Within the framework of cooperation between the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and non -Arab African countries, H.E. Mr. Mousa G. Bala GAY, The Gambian Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs, visited Tuesday 16th January 2007, the Bank's Headquarters in Khartoum.

During his visit to BADEA, the Minister was received by the Director General H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz KHELEF and officials from Operations Department. Talks between the two parties covered the mutual cooperation between the Republic of The Gambia and BADEA, with the objective of exploring the various means of promoting and developing this cooperation and realizing its objectives.

During the meeting, the Minister briefed the Bank officials on the current economic situation of his country focusing on its needs for more development. Discussions also revolved around the on-going projects and the suitable plans to achieve the joint goals between BADEA and the Republic of The Gambia.

At the end of the meeting the Minister commended the prominent role of the Bank in developing the African continent and particularly his country since 1976.

By the end of December 2006, BADEA’s assistance to the Republic of The Gambia has reached US $ 72.341 million, for financing 21 development projects and technical assistance operations.  

The total Arab Financing Institutions aid to the Republic of The Gambia, including BADEA's assistance, has reached US $ 280.502 million until end of 2005.
