Within the framework of cooperation between the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and non-Arab African countries, H.E. Mr. Noudegbessi Gbenokpa Francois, Minister of Construction, Housing and Coastal Protection visited on Friday 02/02/2007, the Bank's Headquarters in Khartoum and met with the Director General H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz KHELEF.

Discussions revolved in particular around Coastal Protection Project for Cotonou city and plan to realize the project objectives and its implementation. Current joint activities and future cooperation between the Republic of Benin and BADEA and the means of promoting and developing such cooperation were also discussed during the said meeting.

The Benin delegation expressed its appreciation to the important role played by BADEA in particular and the Arab Financing institutions in general in assisting the economic and social development of the country.

By the end of December 2006, BADEA’s assistance to the Republic of Benin reached US $ 112.105 million. BADEA participated in financing 26 development projects and technical assistance operations. BADEA intervention covered the infrastructure, agriculture, industry and social sectors projects. 

The total Arab Financing Institutions aid to the Republic of Benin, including BADEA's assistance, has reached US$ 417.495 million until end of 2005.
