The Director General of BADEA visits FOUR West Africa countries

H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz KHELEF, Director General of Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), intends to pay an official visit to four western African Countries during the period 11-21 April 2008, namely the Republics of Sierra Leone, Cape Verde, Senegal, and Guinea.

 The tour will be an opportunity for the Director General to discuss with high-ranking officials in these FOUR countries the cooperation programmes between BADEA and these countries in order explore the best means of promoting and developing mutual cooperation relations. In this regards the Director General will sign loans agreements with Senegal and Guinea, Sierra Leone and a letter of understanding with the Republic of Cape Verde.

The Director General will seize this opportunity to acquaint the officials with BADEA’s Export Financing Scheme (BEFS), to promote exports from Arab countries eligible for BADEA's to African States in order to encourages Afro-Arab Cooperation.      

 Its is worth-mentioning that, BADEA’s 5th Five Year Plan which began in (2005) and will end next year (2009) aims at developing and diversify BADEA’s activities, with emphasis on infrastructure, agriculture, rural development, water supply and sanitation, in addition to education and health sectors. These projects are related to the welfare of the people and aim at poverty alleviation, food security, and encouraging women’s participation in development. The total commitment under this Plan is set at US $ 900 millions.

Total Commitments to these four countries amounted to US $ 505,73 million dollars.
