In a ceremony held at the Headquarters of the Arab Bank Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), a loan agreement was signed today Tuesday 09th June 2009, between the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R.C) and Arab Bank Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). By virtue of this agreement BADEA extends to D.R.C. loan of US $ 6 million to help finance the Rehabilitation of Some Primary Schools Project.

The project aims at lending support to the education sector, contributes to the social and economic development and poverty alleviation in the project area.

The agreement was signed, on behalf of BADEA by H.E.Mr. Abdelaziz KHELEF, Director General and by H.E.Mr. Tshombo K.Mohamed, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Conge to the Sudan.

The loan will be repaid in 30 years including a grace period of 10 years and at an annual interest rate of 1%.

Including this new loan, the total commitments of BADEA to the Democratic Republic of Congo will amount to US $ 47.00 million until end of March 2009.
