Project’s Name:
Supply of Potable Water for N’diosmone – Palmarin region
BADEA’s Financing:
A loan of US $ 8 million, to be repaid over a period of 30 years, including a
grace period of 10 years, and an annual interest rate of 1%.
Other Co- financiers:
Saudi Fund (US $ 9 million), Islamic Development Bank (US $ 9.5 million), and
the Government of Senegal (US $ 4.23 million),
Estimated Project Cost:
The total project cost is estimated at US $ 30.73 million, out of which US $
21.57 million is in foreign currencies.
Project Description:
The project consists of the construction of infrastructure for water production
consisting of four wells, one pump station, one reservoir, network for water
distribution with a total length of 427 km, to cover the needs of 116 villages
situated between the south of “Tiyas” town and the delta region of “Saloum”
River till the year 2033. The project includes also the consultancy services
Procurement of goods and Services:
The procurement of Goods and services will be as follows:-
- Execution and equipment of wells by local dealers.
- Civil works on the basis of open International competitive bidding
- Consultancy services on the basis of a short list including qualified Arab,
African or Arab/African firms according to BADEA’s procedures.
- Training workshops by Specialized Arab Institute.
- Provision of Local Library equipment by local dealers.
Project’s Implementation:
It is expected that the project implementation will commence by mid of the year
2005; and be completed in mid of the year 2008. The Ministry of Agriculture and
Water Supply will be responsible for the execution of the project.
