Nature of the Technical Assistance:
A grant for financing the preparation of the technical and economic feasibility study for Kampala- Entebbe Road Project.

BADEA’s Financing:
A grant of an amount of US $ 375 000.

General Information:
The technical assistance project aims at financing the cost of undertaking a technical and economic feasibility study for Kampala – Entebbe Road Project in the Republic of Uganda. The objective of the study will focus on reducing traffic congestions at the entrance of Kampala City, reduce number of accidents and travel time from center of town up to Entebbe, ease of movement of traffic, increase of safety standards between Kampala and Entebbe which will lead to reducing cost of transportation

The terms of reference include the following:

Study of the project area,
- Collect and analyze the records and engineering, economic and population information needed to carry out the study.

- Prepare estimates for the current and future traffic volume and type in the project area.

- Evaluate the current road condition especially towards storm water drainage structures.

- Study the possible alternatives for the rehabilitation and improvement of the road in the light of the technical, financial and economic findings.


- Prepare cost estimate for the rehabilitation and improvement of the road.

- Prepare the economic study for the project including comparison between the benefits and costs and calculation of the economic rate of return.
- Studying the environmental impacts of the project.

Procurement of Goods and Services
Procurement of the consultancy services shall be obtained through competitive bidding restricted to short-listed firms limited to Arab, African or Arab-African consulting firms.
