The Board of Directors of the Arab Bank for Economic
Development in Africa (BADEA), has approved in its session held during the
period 29th September –1st October, 2004 loans and grants for some African
countries.
The total amount of the approved financing is US$ 30.585 million, of which US$
28.90 million are earmarked, as loans, for participation in financing of 4
development projects and US$ 1.685 million are allocated for financing 6
technical assistance operations.
In view of the importance given by BADEA to encourage Arab contracts and
consultancy firms to be involved in projects implementation, preparation of
studies and supervision of the execution of projects, the following are the
approved operations:-
A) Projects:
1) Burkina Faso: A loan of US $ 10.0 million to participate in financing the Wgadogo- Kongosi Road project.
2) Republic of Kenya:
A loan amounting to US $ 5.0 million to participate in financing the Rehabilitation and Development of Holla Irrigation project – Phase 1.
3) Republic of
Mauritius: A loan in an amount of US $5.5 million to participate in financing the Northern Plain Irrigation Project – Phase 11 ( NPIP 11).
4) Republic of Guinea:
A Loan of US $ 8.4 million to participate in financing the Supply of Rural Water in Kisodogo, Billa and Msnta Provinces project.
B) Technical Assistance Operations
1) Republic of Uganda:
A technical assistance grant in the amount of US $ 375 000 for the preparation of the feasibility study of Kampala-Entebbe Road Project.
